A couple projects I did on our house!

Back in the 1960's they built houses pretty well! Ours is a 1968 so far its pretty solid and we've lived here almost 10 years and it has a couple hidden gems! For some reason back in 2012 I caught the "see what I can do with the inside of the house bug"! Well my bug started out small and grew quickly! I think it came from having painted the living room and the outside of the house!

The first project with a little help was the awful fireplace wood box that attached to the rest of the fireplace. It's great to hold my fish tank but a pain how much space it took up.

Of course I grabbed the camera AFTER taking the top piece off! But its sitting on the left side. The white colored walls used to be dark brown wood grain looking!

We didn't realize that it was a box that you would lift off the lid and get the wood from underneath and it was connected to the garage by an opening in the wall! Of course the box hasn't been used in over 10 years so someone before us decided to seal it down!! That was fun to get off! I had hubby help me with the sledgehammer since they LOVE to use the big tools to destroy stuff! (I do too!)

Tadaaaa! The kids even helped to haul all the bricks outside!! It even makes the room bigger. I ended up getting a small fishtank cabinet and putting it there!

BUT what is this..NO way hardwood floors underneath! YES! Dun dun duuun! Next project is forming!!!! But with 3 kids, 2 dogs, 3 cats and 2 ferrets I didn't think hardwood floors would make it through this family! To be continued....
